A breast cancer diagnosis is already overwhelming, and the thought of surgery altering your appearance can add another layer of stress. At ECAPS, we understand that your confidence and sense of self are just as important as your health. Oncoplastic reconstruction combines lumpectomy with aesthetic reconstructive techniques, allowing patients to remove cancerous tissue while preserving the natural shape and symmetry of their breasts. Integrating cosmetic and surgical expertise helps minimize deformities, ensuring you feel whole and confident in your body after treatment. With the skilled team at ECAPS in both New Jersey and New York City, you can focus on healing without compromising your femininity.
What is Oncoplastic Reconstruction? (Lumpectomy With Oncoplastic Reconstruction)
Oncoplastic reconstruction combines the principles of cosmetic surgery techniques employed during breast reductions and mastopexies (breast lifts) with breast surgical oncology. When a lumpectomy is required and a contour deformity is expected, the remaining tissue of the breast can be used to simultaneously camouflage the defect and sculpt the breast to provide a more youthful appearance. The scars are equivalent to cosmetic reductions/cosmetic mastopexy. The opposite breast will also be modified to create symmetry. This is a good option for patients who are candidates for breast conservation therapy, i.e., lumpectomy, and are also candidates for a breast reduction or mastopexy.
