Plastic Surgery for Men
Over the last few years, plastic surgery for men has become increasingly acceptable. In 2011, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, over 800,000 men underwent cosmetic surgery. According to the 2011 study, the top 5 surgical procedures for men are liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid lifts, male breast surgery and face lifts. These do not include non-surgical procedures such as BoTox, which are also quite common in men and require minimal down time.
While cosmetic surgery is much more common in women, the reasons for choosing plastic surgery are invariably the same for men. Men are under the same pressures to look more youthful and are staying in a competitive workforce longer, so they also benefit from cosmetic surgery.
A number of the techniques we use for men and women are the same. However, what is considered attractive with a woman’s face or body is not the same as in a man, so board certified plastic surgeons must have experience in both male and female plastic surgery to produce optimal results.
